Wedding Week: Rehearsal Dinner and Wedding Vibes with Angry Young and Poor

Angry Young and Poor so graciously provided my dress for the rehearsal dinner.  If you are not familiar with this company, please click over and get to know them!  It is a small business that has been dedicated to the punk rock / alt side of things since 1995.

I selected a black off the shoulder dress by Lucky 13.  The Loren Dress comes in black, plum, or midnight blue.  It does have give/stretch, but order a size up, as in my opinion it runs small.  It is currently $77 online through angry young and poor website.

This dress is really pretty, and can be glammed up, to the nines, or dressed demure.  I chose to attach a spider brooch at the bust line to repeat similar image from my wedding dress.

AY&P also provide braces and a Kustom Kreeps tie for my groom.  The braces come in a variety of colors and start at $12.  Johnny chose a black pair to go with the "creepy" theme.

The Kustom Kreeps Grave Digger Tie was a big hit, and one I a sure he will wear again.  It is available for $7 right now online.

If you are looking to outfit yourself or your bridal party for any part of your wedding, please keep Angry Young and Poor in mind.  Sometimes it is hard to remember that you don't have to shop at Men's Warehouse or David's Bridal, because that seams to be the push as soon as your get engaged.

Wedding Week: Reception Extras and Party Favors

We officially did it! We are married and have been for a week now!  It has been a lot of fun, and we could not have done it without the help of some very important vendors.

I wrote last week about using your favorite companies to help you get splendid gifts for your bridal party, and your reception is no different.  We went a totally non-traditional route with our wedding, and you should know that means we did exactly what we wanted.

Our reception was hosted at Civil Kitchen, in Springfield MO, and we decorated with what I like to call Halloween in June, or something a little "creepy".

Sourpuss Clothing provided the skull planters and creep cookie plates.  They looked perfect for our creepy theme, and are know serving purpose as decor in our living room.

The planters are $19 right now and come in black or red.  You could fill them with planters, like we did, or candy!

The creep plates are on sale right now for $8 a each and are a fun addition to any house. I may have to get some more, just to eat on.

The tombstone sign was created by an IG friend, Future Mrs. Design, who works with all types of mediums to custom create items for your wedding, gifts, or just fun little trinkets.

And lastly, our cookies are hand created by another small business owner, Fancy Paperie, who does cookies and beautiful papers, invitations, and cards.

I loved that we got to support small business and also use companies that we know and love!  Don't worry there is more to come with a few other companies that we worked with for a wedding.

Wedding Week: Bridal Party Gift Ideas with Sourpuss Clothing and Suavecito

I don't know if you are like me, but I started to really roll my eyes when searching for wedding party gift ideas.  Now, I am not having traditional nuptials.  My fiance and I decided that a church was not the venue for us, and we are not necessarily a "traditional" wedding magazine couple anyway.

I could not, in good faith, get any friend an engraved photo frame, or some sort of barf-o-tron gift that they would never use, so I looked to some of my favorite companies to fill the order of thanking our friends for helping us get hitched.

One of the hardest parts of this whole "bride" journey, is honestly staying true to yourself.  There are a million different opinions that will pull you down different paths, and really when it comes down to it, you just have to do what feels good and right to you.  So why in the world give presents that you wouldn't want to receive yourself?

Suavecito/Suavecita is a brand that both Johnny and I, as well as our friend are very well acquainted with.  A great groomsman swag bag could be filled with pomade, or their new signature cologne, and a new comb.  Your bridesmaids would be sure to love a new suavecita lipstick and/or some wonderfully scented pomade of her own!

Another favorite company of mine, and one that I have worked with multiple times, is Sourpuss Clothing.

It is hard to think how a clothing company could fit into gift giving, or even how it could be a good place to look for wedding reception extras, but Sourpuss is MORE than just clothes!

For the groomsmen, Johnny and I picked out some very rad pinstriped ties by Kustom Kreeps through Sourpuss, and also a couple of stainless steel flasks.

Sourpuss Clothing also sent along some great things for a wedding reception, but photos of that will up on another post, because obviously I want to get some photos of the cool items at our actual wedding reception.

From one alternative bride to another, think outside the wedding magazines.  Go with companies that already support your "roots".
