Making: Besides making a real mess, I am not really making anything of importance. I did get a few plants this week, cause I was getting sad that I had no plants in my house. I got two african violets and a venus fly trap. The fly trap came as a bulb, so it have to wait for it to grow. My window sill in my kitchen looks a little more home like.
Anticipating: A visit from my dear best friend Devyn and her husband, Geoff. They are coming to visit next weekend and I am terribly excited. I haven't seen Devyn since April, which is too damn long.
Learning: I am a little bummed that I won't be attending a car show in KC that I have attended every year since 2005, but such is life. I will be making new memories this year. New traditions, new life, new peeps. I sometimes forget how hard ending relationships can be. Things get divided and split and just when you think you are doing really good, a thing that you used to do, or an item that you used to use, is needed and you are like, wow, my life is totally different. Its hard, but every day gets a little easier. When you are in the midst of divorce, or even a long term relationship break up, it kind of feels like you are dying. In reality, you kind of are dying. That part of you necrotizes and just has to be severed. My best advice is to focus on yourself and your new journey. I am sometimes terrible at this, because I have a tendency to look at my past and analyze every part of it. I have to remind myself "Eyes forward Elliott" and it keeps my focus towards the good I have and the positive I am moving towards
Listening To: Leon Bridges. If you do not know this name, go look it up right now. Oh man, it is like Otis Redding and Sam Cooke had a younger nephew or cousin and collaborated with them. SOOOOOOOO GOOD! This album has been on heavy rotation for me lately.
Wearing: Right now the midwest is hanging on for dear life to summer. I am not complaining as the temperatures are hanging right around the mid 80's. I don't mind summer, but I always get antsy when it comes to turning over to fall. I want to just be wrapped in scarves, layers and big boots. For the moment I am wearing converse, lots of denim and my favorite band shirts. A summer combination staple.
Plotting: Halloween Plans. I am not sure what Johnny and I are going to be doing, but we are starting to talk about what we want to do.
A few weeks ago JORD Watches, a wooden watch company, contacted me to do a product review on their beautiful watches. I was beyond thrilled, but thought it might be more fun to get a man's perspective.
Johnny and I hopped on their website to peruse their stock and I was seriously wowed by the wide variety of watches they have for both men and women. The selection is really big and there are so many different styles of wood and faces to choose from.
Johnny chose the Zebrawood and Maple, which retails for $120. It really is a stunning watch. One of the first things he noticed was how light weight the watch is. I was surprised by that too. I assumed that it being wood, it would perhaps be weighty.
Not only are you purchasing a really beautiful product, but the packaging and whole experience with this company is really wonderful. They will send you an email on how to measure your wrist to make sure the watch is sized to fit you comfortably, they provide shipping information and tracking and you will get up to date emails from the company letting you know where and when you watch ships.
This stunning watch came packaged in a nice wooden watch box along with care instructions, an extra link, care cloth and promotional materials.
With the holidays right around the corner, for any person in your life, a JORD wooden watch would make a unique and really wonderful gift!
Johnny really likes his new watch and we are so thankful for the opportunity to review such a great product and truly unique company!
Stop by their website and check out their entire line and pick out something for yourself or your favorite person.

I have a love affair with anything striped and anything Frankenstein/Bride of Frankenstein, and that is where the inspiration for our bedroom began!
I am super fortunate that my boyfriend, Johnny, shares a love for all things creepy and wasn't put off by having a creepy cool bedroom. Although the room is not *quite* finished, it is finished enough for me to show it off.
We just moved into our home about four weeks ago. It is a house that was built in 1912 and has really great craftsman style features. I love the warm wood floors and the archways throughout the house. I can't wait to post each room for you all to see, cause I am pretty proud of how two people can meld their belongings together to create a fun and cohesive living space.
A lot of the stuff we have in our room, and our house for that matter, is vintage or was found at antique stores, so that is kind of a bust for you, if you are looking to find the exact thing for yourself. However, some of it, you can purchase yourself online or in stores!

Making: Right now, I have been in a baking mood. Well baking and cooking. I find that in the fall it is super easy to move right into baking delicious yummies and really start "pre-hibernating". I think of it like that because I am a bit of a hermit crab, and I like to fill my house with delicious smells and comfortable things and coziness as we inch closer and closer to fall and winter. Two things that have been on my mind, as of late, is cookies and more cookies! Here are two recipes I just made: Oatmeal Cookies and Chocolate Chip Cookies, and honestly they didn't stay around for more than a couple of days. If you follow me on pinterest, you can also see what I have been up to in the kitchen!
Anticipating: Honestly, it is the release of Pumpkin Spice Lattes. I am not going to kid around about this, it is something I look forward to every year. I know there are a million and one college girls, in UGGS and leggings, with their hair in a messy bun, that are screaming for the most "basic" of all lattes flavors to returning, but I don't care. I LOVE pumpkin spice anything, and if that makes me look dumb, than so be it. It is not a guilty pleasure, it is an actual pleasure to drink that delicious cup of yumminess and I won't apologize for it.
Learning: I am learning to live with a big dog. I know this sounds like a stupid, stupid thing, but I have had three small dogs for the past 14 years. One of which was a whole 3 pounds. The new dog in my life and the trifecta to my new family is a very tiny 103 pounds. He is a sweetheart and thinks he weights 3 pounds. I have had to explain to Johnny that I am just not used to have an extra 100 pounds to love and I am not even really sure how to. I know it is ridiculous, but I am learning. He walks me, he whips me with his long tail, and last night he barfed on my pillow, but I love him nonetheless. Have you ever experienced this? Or perhaps the reverse of always having a big dog, and suddenly you become the parent to a tiny one?
Listening To: Because I live with a music lover (and a bit of a snob) I get to listen to a little bit of everything. This past week it has been a lot of 60's reggae, which is fun and will always put you in a great mood. It doesn't hurt that my sweet boyfriend loves to dance to. He can certainly bring a smile to my face.
Wearing: I am always wearing black, and I am trying to transition into a more layered look for fall. Since I just moved, it was a time to purge a lot of things that I don't wear and every season I look for more things to add to my wardrobe to give it a little punch. Perhaps this fall I will focus on layers and lots of rings and necklaces.
Plotting: What to plant in my new flower beds.
I am sorry I have been missing in action lately, and this blog has really felt the brunt of that. I will get more into why I haven't been posting later, but I wanted to let you all know that a new lineup of good stuff is on its way.
Over the past few months, or well almost year, I have been diagnosed with cancer, divorced, moved, started a new job, met and fell in love with a new man, moved into together, and am finally where I am today. Whew, it has been a whirlwind.
Be looking for new posts soon, as I am getting the layout put together as we speak.
I hope you are all well and ready to get acquainted with what is going on in Katty Land again.
