Tell me about your featured photo(s). When were they taken? Why are they your favorite? The shot of me in the Pabst Blue Ribbon is the first Pin Up picture I ever took! With the second shot I'm Miss September in The Breast Cancer Foundations 2013 calendar & the last is a twist on the "traditional" holiday shot.
How long have you been modeling/enjoying photography? Not very long! I always admired & wanted to be a Pin Up since I was a little girl. Finally I had my first Pin Up Shoot just this past July & my first photo submitted in September. Prior to that in 2003 I had a national contract with Coors Light & was featured in promotional ads. Who are your favorite Pinup Models? Past or present inspiration? The Bomber Pin Ups like Rita Hayworth were what made me want to be a Pin Up as a little girl. love Sophia Loren! She is a huge inspiration & were both Italian. Bettie Page is another one of my favorite What is some of your favorite clothing lines? Favorite Designers? I have so many! At the moment in really into Michael Kors handbags
What is your favorite color and why? Red! Its a powerful color you can't help but feel confident when you wear it.
If you could have dinner with anyone, living or dead who would it be? My Father, he passed away 5 years ago......he was/is the best Dad a girl could ask for!
How did you get your model name? Melissa is my real first name & Dee is a play on my last name from childhood. In elementary school I think we had 4 Melissa's. So I spent a lot of my school days as Melissa D

This new segment is something I thought would be fun to share and help push you (and me) out of our pattern comfort zone! It is really easy to get stuck in your daily dressing, grabbing the same items from your closet over and over, so this series to to encourage you outside of your box. I mixed an aztec style scarf with a black and white striped maxi skirt. These are two patterns that on their own make an impact, but structuring them together can create maximum fashion impact! Do you have favorite patterns that you like to mix together, or are you pattern challenged? Stay Sweet, Katty

Age: Forever young, hahah! :-P Occupation: Flash animator, Film-maker, metalhead and trouble maker extraordinaire! Where are you from: Los Angeles, CA... born and raised into the madness from the valley. LIKE OMG! (Yes, we do kinda talk like that.) Favorite photographer to work with: I work with a lot of awesome amazing women and men, so that is a very very hard question to answer! The ones I relate the most to and get along with the best so far are, Ama Lea and Angela Morales. Artist/Photographer/location of featured photo(s): The photos in the kitchen were shot with Vestige Photography at a lovely vintage house owned by a model named Dottie. Makeup was by Red Dodge/Dr. Red who is not only a gorgeous as all heck celebrity makeup artist, but she's also a fantastic woman as well. Tell me about your featured photo(s). When were they taken? Why are they your favorite? These feature photos were taken about 3 weeks ago. I love the look and feel of them, truly vintage is something I always feel I am close to but not quite... 'til now. I honestly think they are some of my best work to date. How long have you been modeling/enjoying photography? I have been modeling for a little over 3 years consistently. I used to always model or be in videos for my friends' film projects (I have a Bachelors in Film & TV) but I also used to do photography too. Who are your favorite Pinup Models? Past or present inspiration? Sabina Kelley and Doris MayDay are the reasons I wanted to even attempt modeling. Of course, I can't forget Mosh. Mosh is something else altogether. Oh my gosh, quick story: The featured photos here that I had shot with Vestige, were on the same day she was shooting with Mosh. I was SO nervous!! She is like breath-taking, I don't even have words. Impeccable, that woman. I have never seen a shot of hers I didn't just love to death. I really adore her. I am also a huge huge fan past pinups and performers, Rita Hayworth and Josephine Baker. What is some of your favorite clothing lines? Favorite Designers? I have a LOT of clothes from Heartbreaker Fashion and Stop Staring! Iron Fist are where most of my shoes come from though, I try to have a bit of an edge in my photos. If you could shoot with any photographer, past or present, who would it be? This is a really weird question for me because I study lots of different photographers that do not do pinup photography, so my answer isn't going to be all that "normal". Gregory Crewdson does these really neat cinematic life-like shots. He did the Season 3 poster for HBO's 'Six Feet Under' which is one of the best shows I've ever watched. I would love to work with him and create something eerie and amazing. That to me, is true art. Also, Diane Arbus is an amazing photographer of sideshow and deviant acts from the 30s and 40s. Sidenote: Stanley Kubrick loved her work as well, and the world famous shot from his film 'The Shining' with the twins in the hallway is actually an homage and visual interpretation to one of her pieces. Super awesome stuff!
What is your favorite color and why? It used to be purple but I've been loving red a lot more over the last 5 years. I think it suits me and my attitude. Purple is for royalty and while I do feel regal at shoots, red is power and love, who doesn't like those things?
If you could have dinner with anyone, living or dead who would it be? Anytime anyone asks me about anyone being brought back to life I always go for Freddie Mercury, because... he's Freddie Mercury. I don't think I need to explain that further, he's amazing and Queen is/was an amazing band.
How did you get your model name? Lilly is actually the name of the parasol girl in one of the 4 stretching portraits inside Disney's The Haunted Mansion and it's believed she was given her name as a nod to Walt Disney's wife, Lillian. I am a HUGE Disney/Haunted Mansion fan, can you tell? Haha. Raven is from my favorite poet and writer (after Dorothy Parker), Edgar Allan Poe. My real name is Aris (like Paris, without a P) and I do think my name is pretty but I always have to explain it over 9000 times.
My great-grandmother was notorious for always having something available for guests to eat when they stopped by. In fact, she had an entire deepfreeze dedicated to only homemade pies. "You never know when you might have an unexpected guest." Those were her rules. Have a pie ready, and always be a gracious host. I don't have the time, nor the place to store an unlimited amount of pies, I do however have a quick little cheat sheet to use incase I find myself in this situation.
Strawberries sliced and sprinkled with sugar are always a great go to! If you happen to have some pound cake, even better.
Sliced bananas drizzled with a quick caramel sauce (melt together butter and brown sugar) topped with chopped walnuts or pecans
Pear slices sauteed in butter and brown sugar until tender
I hope this gives you a few ideas for your next gathering.
My Sixth Box arrived in April. I always look forward to seeing this box on my front porch, cause I know there is fun stuff waiting for me! If you haven't signed up yet, you should! For $35, you get over $100 worth of products, plus if you use the link below, you will get $5 off your first order!
I already carry blotter around in my purse, so I am excited to try these and see how they compare. They are packaged nicely and are small enough to not take up a huge part of my makeup bag.
Must Have Beauty ~ Kai Perfume oil
This is some pretty cool stuff. Due to your own personal pH balance, the scent of this perfume oil, will smell different on everyone! I really like the theory of this, and on me, I love the way it smells!
Must Have Home ~ Pop Sugar Garment Bag
I already see that this item is going to get used like nobody's business in my house. With shooting, traveling, dropping off, loaning out, and just all around moving clothing around, I was really excited to get this. Now, in the blog realm, I know this item might piss some people off, because, well $35 is $35, but for my money, I liked getting this.
Must Have Fashion ~ Shashi Bracelet.
Love this new bracelet, especially for the summer time. It is adjustable and the perfect combination of gold, brown, and turquoise. (all of my favorite summer colors!)
I can't wait to see what May's Box will bring to my door step! And did you see they have a special Summer Box? I am debating getting that one too.
Watching: Season Two of Bomb Girls on REELZ. Oh so good. The plot lines are not so great, but the makeup, hair, and clothing, SWOON.
Thinking about: A new fence. Oh geez. We need a new fence like no body's business. I can't wait to see how much better it will look with a fence that is not down and dangling by a string. Make my house, look like a home, is something that I take pride in.
Reading: at this point, kindle is still down. Bummer. It is either new one, or start reading it via kindle app.
Looking forward to: My girlie nail date, my upcoming shoot for Tattoo Envy, and well hopefully some new tattoos soon. I have to save up a little more and then get back in to finish my right arm sleeve and start on my shins. Eek! Making me happy: Peach Black Iced Tea, puppy snuggles, crafting, blooming tulips, and new spring dresses!
Tell me about your featured photo(s). When were they taken? Why are they your favorite? I’ve been featured different Pinup blogs and online magazines and got a few features on the way on printed editions. The photo shoot I enjoyed the most was the “boudoir” one I did last summer. I had a lot of fun during the shooting because I would never thought of posing like that in pictures and actually, it was not planned. I was changing to another outfit and had that underneath. My sister was helping me in the studio. The photographer and her kind of made me pose in “undies” and we all ended up loving the results of the pictures. I feel like I represent that a fuller figure can look and feel beautiful and sexy and not be ashamed of it. Basically going against the typical “perfect and thin” body that we are use to see all over the media.
How long have you been modeling/enjoying photography? I can say that since I was a kid I've always been inspired by Vintage, glamour and Hollywood actresses. My experiences with photographers started at a very young age but definitely were not Pinup inspired yet (I was way too young for that). Pin Up modeling started almost two years ago and loving every minute of it. One day I woke up and said to my self "Let me just try it" and made my obsession with Pinup Art part of my life. Who are your favorite Pinup Models? Past or present inspiration? As cliché as this may sound, of course I love Marilyn Monroe Hollywood Glamour, the gorgeous Ava Gardner and the iconic Betty Grable. But what inspired me the most were Gil Elvgren art and the Bomber Girls. I'm an aviation enthusiast and I find fascinating the purpose of the airplanes Nose Art. Another inspirations would be Idda van Munster and Mosh. They always look so stunning in every picture! As Pinups modeling has grow so much lately, there are a lot of woman that inspire me everyday. I love the fact that so many women feel so beautiful and accept themselves for who they are and embrace it.
What is some of your favorite clothing lines? Favorite Designers? I adore the Stop Staring! clothing line and Pinup Girl Boutique (great quality). But mostly, I go for Vintage Findings online or charity stores. I've found very interesting pieces and accessories over the years and sometimes I also make my own clothes. And about high couture designers, I like D&G and PRADA that makes amazing and sophisticated pieces inspired by past eras.
If you could shoot with any photographer, past or present, who would it be?
Imagine working with Steven Meisel or Nick Night photography! I follow a lot of Pinup pages and blogs and I’ve seen amazing work from different photographers and studios “pinup related”. As I mentioned before that Gil Elvgren Pinups are my biggest inspiration, I would LOVE to work with Celeste Giuliano Photography. Her work is amazing! No doubt I would get on a plane and get to Philly.
What is your favorite color and why?
Blue. My parents once told me it was the first color I said and could identify when I was a baby. It has always been my favorite color, even through every phase I've been in my rebel/adolescent years. I believe is a nice color with great variations and shades. It looks good in clothes, shoes, accessories and make-up. Also I think it goes well with my skin color.
If you could have dinner with anyone, living or dead who would it be? Oh my, I would love to have James Dean as a Date! I think it would be so much fun having a few beers with Elvis or some whisky drinks with Johnny Cash. And of course go for a coffee, a nice dinner or a ladies night out with a lot of Pin up ladies dead and alive like Idda Van Munster, Mosh, Dita, Tessmunster, Ashley Marie Rosas, Monroe, Grable, and many more!
How did you get your model name? My model name comes from my real last name "Luna" which means Moon in Spanish. I have French heritage, so I decided to honor it, so "Lune" means Moon in french.
