Sweet Taste of Freedom ~ DazyCakes & Giveaway!

DazyCakes Bakery // Facebook // Etsy

Where are you from? I am from a small southern town in Georgia called Thomasville.

How did you get your store started? I have always loved baking ever since I was a little girl. I had contemplated starting my own bakery about five years ago, but it was the right thing wrong time. The nug that really got me going was discovery I was pregnant with my little boy and realizing that I was not cut out for the corporate world, and I didnt want to spend the rest of my life working for someone else and making them money. I started out by trying different recipes and then started my own page on Etsy.com. My husband and I listed my first item the day we opened the page and  sold it that same evening! We were like, I think we may have discovered what I was suppost to do all along.

What inspires you? Part of my inspiration comes from my baby boy. Knowing that I want to have the best for him and to spend time with him as he gets older pushes me to make this business successful. I also draw a lot of inspiration from one of my best friends Tina. She is also a business owner with her own bakery and a little girl, and she is also a server just like me. I think we help inspire and push each other on with our successes and give encouragement when we have a hard day. My other inspiration comes from a amazing lady I worked for back in Thomasville. She had a very successful shop and working for her made me first realize I wanted to be a business owner one day.

How long have you been open and what is some of your favorite items? I have been open over a year now. I opened last April and we are gaining business every week. Some of my favorite items would have to be my coconut macaroons and my chocolate chip cheesecake bars. They are pretty simple items but so amazing and delicious.I have people tell me," I don't even like coconut, but these are amazing" The cheesecake bars are just pure comfort food.

What celebrity would you most like to promote your items?  If I could have a celebrity promote one of my items, I would say Scarlett Johansson. She is curvy and beautiful and doesn't look afraid to eat a hamburger or a treat once in a while. I also would love to be promoted by Giada De Laurentis! She is an amazing cook and I just love her!

If you had to use only one word to describe yourself, what would it be? hmmm.... Persistent

what is your biggest pet peeve? flaky people, indecisiveness, bad drivers

what are your favorite websites? Etsy.com, Unique Vintage.com, Pinupgirlclothing.com

what is your dream job? I'm doing it right now, being my own boss and being a baker. What could be better than making delicious treats and having to try new ones....Its a hard job but someone has to do it. lol.

what would people be surprised to learn about you? I come from a very family. I am one of 7 kids and we are spread out from 40 to the baby who just turned 16. I love it though, family gatherings are tons of fun.
